This series has been deliberately and carefully designed with a specific purpose: to take the dancer through a structured progression of learning, where each level builds upon the skills and understanding developed in the level before it. The goal is not simply to teach a collection of figures, but to provide the dancer with the knowledge, technique, control, and confidence necessary to progress successfully from Bronze to Silver, from Silver to Gold, and ultimately into the Open levels.

The process is much like learning any other discipline. To become a ballerina, many hours are spent practicing pliés, relevés, tendus, and all of the other fundamental exercises that make up what is known as barre work. A singer must learn the basic notes—do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti—before they can confidently and correctly belt out a song.

Ballroom dancing is no different. There is a progression, and the fundamentals matter.
